Francis Levi "Pappy" Shaw

Francis Levi "Pappy" Shaw, 83, of 703 East Poplar Street in Robinson, Ill. passed away on Monday, November 26, 2001 at 4:05 p.m. at Cotillion Ridge Nursing Center following a long period of failing health.
He was born in Elkville in Jackson County, Ill. on January 18, 1918, the son of Frank Shaw and Chloe (Shepard) Shaw. On December 24, 1938 he married Opal Irene (Wright).
He was a retired coal miner, foreman, track layer, timberman and machine operator for Peabody Coal Co. for 42 years.
He was a member of the First Christian Church of Robinson, Ill. and the BPO Elks No. 1188 and was a past Dowell school board member.
Survivors include his wife, Opal; sons Gary Don and wife Barbara Shaw of Kankakee, IL., Jerry W. Shaw of Oblong, IL., William E. "Bill" of Twyla Shaw, Robinson, IL.; grandchildren Christine Beckman, Stacy Shaw, Brian Shaw, Autumn Burkett and great-grandchildren Allison Beckman; Luke Beckman and Brandon & Hunter Shaw as well as a sister, Genevieve Bullar of DeSoto, IL. and other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Geneva Curtis.
Her funeral was scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday, November 29, 2001 at the Pulliam Funeral Home in Robinson, Ill. with Rev. T. R. Akers officiating. Burial was in Robinson New Cemetery, Robinson, IL. Visitation was today from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Pulliam Funeral Home and until time of services on Thursday.
